• Parkwolf Audio Tour Guide: Drive around the park without a set destination, and Parkwolf's audio guide will tell you about what you see as you drive! Become an expert on the park's history, wildlife, geology and features just by driving through at your own pace! Parkwolf will show you all upcoming places, and show distances to nearest restroom, gas, foods and more! You don't need an internet connection to use it! Expert Review & Analysis
I downloaded Parkwolf last week before driving up to Rocky Mountain National Park because I knew my cell service would be non-existent. The offline map feature is actually pretty solid, we lost signal about twenty minutes in but the map still worked perfectly. My favorite part is the wildlife heatmap tab. I tapped on the elk icon and it showed exactly where they've been spotted recently. We actually found a small herd right where the app suggested which was awesome.
But the audio guide feature was kind of annoying. Its supposed to play automatically as you drive but it kept lagging behind our actual location. We would drive past a lookout point, and then like two minutes later teh audio would finally start talking about it. I tried adjusting the settings but couldn't find a way to sync it better. Also, the app drained my battery super fast even when plugged into my car usb outlet.
Its a decent app to have on your phone for the maps alone, but they definitely need to fix the GPS lag on the audio tours.
