Expert Review & Analysis
I downloaded FlareReel because I keep seeing ads for these short drama shows and wanted to see what the hype was about. The vertical video player actually works really well on my phone, and it’s super easy to just swipe through the episodes when I have a few minutes to kill. The first few episodes of this cheesy CEO romance show were free, and the picture quality was surprisingly good for a random app.
But honestly, the paywall hits you so fast its crazy. I went to tap the "Next Episode" button after getting totally hooked on a cliffhanger, and suddenly it wanted me to pay a ridiculous amount of coins to unlock the next two minutes of video. I also tried to add a show to the "My List" tab so I could find it later, but the app glitched out and didn't save it. The recommendation engine keeps pushing the same three revenge dramas anyway, even though I already watched them. It is a fun way to waste time if you just want to watch teh free clips, but I'm definitely not paying real money for this.
